IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal does not fully result in permanent hair removal. But it can significantly reduce hair growth over time, it usually requires multiple sessions to achieve optimal results. IPL works by targeting the pigment in the hair follicles, which inhibits their ability to grow hair temporarily. After 8 weeks of using IPL, you will only need to use IPL once in 1-2 weeks without shaving. That is the ultimate benefit of using IPL.

1. Cleanse the area to be treated to remove any oils, lotions, or makeup.
2. Shave the area to ensure the light can penetrate the hair follicles effectively. Avoid waxing or plucking the hairs, as the follicles need to be intact for IPL to work.
3. Select the appropriate intensity level on the IPL device, starting with a lower setting if you're new to using it.
4. Place the device's window against the skin and press the button to emit the light pulse. Move the device slowly across the treatment area, overlapping slightly with each pulse.
5. Avoid treating the same area more than once per session to prevent skin irritation.
6. After treatment, apply a soothing gel or moisturizer to the treated area to help alleviate any discomfort and hydrate the skin.
7. Follow the recommended treatment schedule provided by the device manufacturer, typically every 1-2 weeks for several sessions, then maintenance sessions as needed.
8. Always read and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully to ensure safe and effective use of the IPL device.

IPL may not be safe for all skin types. While it can be effective on a variety of skin tones, including fair to medium skin with dark hair, it may not be suitable for very dark skin tones or skin with a high concentration of melanin. In such cases, there is a risk of skin damage, including burns, hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation.
